As our Pride Support Volunteer, you’ll gain valuable experience in event planning and organisation. You will support the Communications, Fundraising and Volunteering team to create and deliver all activities during Manchester Village Pride. You’ll work closely with our teams of staff and volunteers to ensure that George House Trust has a high profile at Manchester Village Pride and that our volunteers have a great experience across the weekend.

  • Helping to create an informative and engaging Pride Parade entry

  • Helping to source and prepare materials for our entry in the Pride Parade and for the Candlelit Vigil

  • Helping to create content for social media platforms including Instagram and TikTok

  • Helping with administration for the event

  • Supporting with the recruitment of volunteers for the Pride Parade and Candlelit Vigil

  • Supporting with the training/briefing of volunteers for the events

  • Supporting with coordination of volunteers at the Pride Parade and Candlelit Vigil

  • Supporting post-event wrap-up activities

Up to two days per week from June 1st to September 11th, with the potential to stay and support with World AIDS Day planning and preparation.

You must be available to help out during the bank holiday weekend of Manchester Village Pride. The parade will be on Saturday the 29th of August, from 9am to 2pm and the Candlelit Vigil will require support from 3pm until 11pm on Monday the 31st of August

We welcome volunteers with a range of backgrounds and can support you to develop many of the skills needed for the role. The following skills or interests would be helpful:

• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team

• Friendly and approachable when working with volunteers and stakeholders

• Basic organisational skills and good attention to detail

• Ability to help with simple administrative tasks and keep track of materials or information

• Reliable and able to follow through on agreed tasks

• Interest in creative activities such as helping design an engaging Pride Parade entry

• Interest in creating content for platforms such as Instagram or TikTok

• Confidence helping brief or guide volunteers during the Pride Parade and Candlelit Vigil (training can be provided)

• Enthusiasm for community events and Pride celebrations

Role Specific Training delivered by Fundraising Manager and Communications and Engagement Officer

A DBS is not required for this role

Supervision will be provided by:

  • Ongoing support by Fundraising Manager and Communications & Engagement Officer

  • Fortnightly check-ins with Volunteering Manager
