What is it?

Skilling Up is a dedicated project for people living with HIV to help improve skills, knowledge and self-confidence. This may be to help you look for a new job, volunteering opportunities or step back into education. Skilling Up also provides 'Positive Employers' HIV Awareness training to employers within Manchester who would like know how they can best support colleagues living with HIV and help tackle stigma and discrimination.


What can I expect?

Through 1:1 support and group information, coaching and training sessions you'll learn how to overcome obstacles and challenges to success, gain specific skills and be offered guidance to help gain employment, change career, or access further education and volunteering opportunities. Skilling Up also runs a Work Mentor scheme which can provide you with specific career guidance from professionals who work within a range of industries.


Who is it for?

Skilling Up is kindly funded by Manchester City Council and is open to residents of Manchester who are living with HIV. Employers in Manchester can also access Skilling Up if they would like training on how best to support colleagues living with HIV.  To access Skilling Up you must already access services at George House Trust.


Where is it?

Most Skilling Up services are based at George House Trust. We can also run events and training at external venues across Manchester.
