Date: Wednesday 23rd September 2026

Time: 1pm to 3.30pm

Venue: Stretford Public Hall, Chester Road, Stretford, Manchester M32 0LG (Rylands Room)

We are pleased to announce a special workshop delivered by Age UK Salford and Trafford.

This interactive session will explore the latest recommendations for nutrition and hydration for people aged fifty and over. Participants will learn how healthy eating, staying hydrated and simple lifestyle choices can help maintain energy levels, support physical and mental wellbeing, and reduce the risk of common health conditions associated with older age. The workshop will offer practical tips and advice that attendees can use in their everyday lives to help stay healthy and independent for longer.

The session will be delivered by Carmel Berke.

Carmel Berke is the Director of Wellbeing and Engagement at Age UK Salford and Trafford, and a Registered Nutritionist with extensive experience supporting older people across Greater Manchester. She specialises in healthy ageing, malnutrition prevention and helping people make practical lifestyle changes that support their overall health and wellbeing. Carmel has worked with individuals, community groups and healthcare professionals to improve understanding of how nutrition can support independence, resilience and quality of life in later years.

The afternoon will begin with a free buffet at 1.15pm, followed by the workshop at 2pm.

The event is free and open to anyone aged fifty or over. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
