Ageing Well: Hollingworth Lake Mindful Walk
Ageing Well: Hollingworth Lake Mindful Walk
Tuesday 25th August 2026 | 10:30am to 3:30pm
Meeting point: Manchester Victoria at 10:30am
Walk location: Hollingworth Lake, Littleborough
Ageing Well invites you to join us for a gentle and uplifting mindful walk around Hollingworth Lake. This relaxed group outing offers a calm space to enjoy nature, connect with others and take part in light movement that supports both physical and mental wellbeing.
Hollingworth Lake is a 130 acre reservoir in Littleborough. It was originally created to supply the Rochdale Canal and later became a popular visitor spot. The circular route is scenic and peaceful, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the views and spot local wildlife.
We will meet at Manchester Victoria at 10:30am before catching the 10:56am train, which arrives at Smithy Bridge at 11:14am. From the station it is a short walk to the lake. The full loop takes around an hour at a steady and accessible pace. After the walk we will head to The Beach Pub and Carvery in Littleborough for lunch together.
Our return train will leave Smithy Bridge at 3:05pm and arrive back at Manchester Victoria at 3:25pm.
Walking in nature offers gentle physical activity that supports mobility, balance and heart health, while the calm surroundings can help reduce stress, lift mood and improve overall wellbeing.
This outing takes place during the week leading up to Manchester Village Pride over the Bank Holiday weekend. It is a lovely chance to enjoy some quiet time outdoors before the celebrations begin.
The event is free and open to anyone aged 50 or over. Travel expenses will be reimbursed in line with our policy.
