Calabash Session: Ai Awareness - Part Two
Calabash session: Ai Awareness - Part Two
We had a fantastic AI session at the last Calabash session and we will be expanding our knowledge to learn more things we can do with AI.
This session is hosted by Aydin Djemal, CEO of BHA for Equality, a charity working to close health gaps in Black and other minoritised communities. Aydin brings the same clear, jargon-free approach that made the first session such a hit, breaking down what AI actually is, how it works, and how anyone can start using it right away. Zero experience required.
We'll take a hands-on look at the big AI platforms out there — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot — and talk through what sets each one apart. You'll also discover how today's AI goes beyond text, reading images and documents too, which opens up all sorts of new possibilities for getting help with everyday tasks.
Here's what we'll dig into:
- Putting together CVs, cover letters and emails that land
- Digging through research and turning long documents into quick summaries
- Making sense of translations and tricky official letters
- Getting the most from AI on your phone — talking to it and using your camera
- Snapping a photo of something and getting an instant explanation
- Tracking down trustworthy health and wellbeing info
Everything gets shown live, on both laptop and phone, so you'll see it working on whatever device you actually reach for. Bring both along — this is a hands-on session, and you'll be trying everything yourself as we go.
To attend the session, you need to register.
Hot African Food and Travel expenses will be provided.
