Ageing Well: Black Communities Showcase

Join us at George House Trust for a welcoming afternoon celebrating culture, wellbeing and community connections.  We'll begin by sharing hot food together from 1:30pm, followed by guest speakers and local organisations offering insights, activities and support tailored to Black communities. 

Afrocats

Afrocats is a Black-led creative charity that brings people together through dance, music and cultural expression.  Their inclusive workshop offer adults a joyful space to stay active, celebrate heritage and connect wtih others. 

Founder and CEO Magdalen Bartlett and Community Connector Bara'ah Al Dalati will be attending to share more about their work and upcoming programmes. 

African and Caribbean Mental Healthy Services (ACMHS)

ACMHS is a trusted community organisation providing culturally informed mental healthy and wellbeing support.  They create safe, understanding spaces where African and Caribbean adults can access guidance, peer support and services that honour identity and lived experience. 

Jacqui Lindley will be joining us on behalf of ACMHS to connect with attendees and offer information about their support pathways. 

 

BHA - with guest speaker Rev. Jide Macaulay

BHA is a health and wellbeing charity championing better outcomes for African and Caribbean communities.  They work to improve access to health information, screening and culturally sensitive support.  We're delighted to welcome Rev. Jide Macaulay, who will speak and share empowering insights on staying healthy in later life, including the importance of cancer awareness and early action.

Sessions are free, and travel expenses are reimbursed.
