Ageing Well is a project for people over the age of 50 who are living with HIV.
AGEING WELL
An ever-growing ageing population of people living with HIV means support services need to change and adapt to meet their diverse needs.
Ageing Well provides support and services for people aged 50+ who are living with HIV in Greater Manchester and Liverpool with opportunities to learn new skills and to engage with volunteering opportunities, both here at George House Trust and externally in our local communities to feel better supported.
Activities and events include HIV-focused and general health information sessions, peer support groups, creative and health and wellbeing workshops, cultural activities and visits to local events and attractions including museums and galleries. Our fortnightly Knit and Natter session is a safe, welcoming space to meet friends old and new, whilst our monthly art workshops at The Whitworth provides a fun and creative meeting space out in the local community.
Ageing Well events and activities will be listed here, so keep an eye out!
A key element of Ageing Well is the delivery of HIV training and awareness to residential care homes, domiciliary care providers and other organisations in contact with, or supporting older people in Greater Manchester and Liverpool. This is to increase knowledge and understanding of ageing with HIV and the impact of stigma and to increase confidence to better support people living with HIV. Training is provided free of charge.
