Events play a huge role in challenging HIV stigma and raising awareness of HIV and the work of George House Trust, as well as essential community fundraising.
This role involves supporting these events and increasing the impact and profile of George House Trust.

Volunteering at events is a fun and sociable way to raise awareness of HIV and to raise funds for people who are living with HIV and experiencing poverty or financial hardship.
As a Volunteer with George House Trust you’ll be playing a key role in challenging HIV stigma and raising awareness about HIV in the community.
This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team of volunteers.
Key tasks include:
- Speaking to the public about HIV as part of a team at information stalls and events;
- Distributing publicity materials to community venues;
- Fundraising on behalf of the charity at events, distributing red ribbons and carrying out charity collections;
- Attending volunteer meetings, to generate new ideas and contacts to help increase awareness raising and fundraising activities;
- Support George House Trust at larger events such as Manchester Pride and World AIDS Day.
You will be informed of upcoming events and then select the ones you would like to attend.
There are a number of daytime events but evening, weekend and late-night events are common in this volunteer role too.
This volunteer activity is all about getting information about HIV out into the community.
Volunteering could take place anywhere in Greater Manchester.
- Good communication skills;
- A confident approach to sharing key George House Trust messages with members of the public;
- Ability to work well as a team;
- Ability to follow instructions;
- Excellent initiative;
- Excellent people skills;
- Able to work professionally and politely with members of the public;
- Able to give information clearly and accurately;
- Punctual and reliable.
- Completion of George House Trust’s Volunteer Induction;
- Role specific training.

- Volunteer team meetings;
- On request with the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
